The internet of thing

So what are internet of thing?

Internet of thing are connecting all items to the Internet through information sensing devices such as radio frequency identification for intelligent identification and management, and the communication are normally between a physical object and connecting with the internet. The internet of things are becoming more and more popular and it was first thought it by Peter T. Lewis in 1985, as the sector is expected to have more than 65B IoT devices worldwide by 2025 and creating $1.7T in 2019.The rapid growth of IoT have brought benefits and threats to users , but as security have become more and more stronger its predicted 93% of enterprises will adopted IoT technology by 2019. As IoT become more mature the market have expanded significantly but there is still lot of area to improve and grow.

For any of you want to understand IoT better , i suggest this video!

How IOT work

How internet of things impact on our surrounding?

The new rule for the future is going to be, “Anything that can be connected, will be connected.” But why on earth would you want so many connected devices talking to each other? There are many examples for what this might look like or what the potential value might be.

First example can be smart household items,Intelligent home product integrates automation control system, computer network system and network communication technology. It integrates all kinds of home equipment (such as audio and video equipment, lighting system, curtain control, air conditioning control, security system, digital cinema system, network household appliances, etc.) through intelligent home network to realize automation. It can be realized through fast broadband, fixed telephone and 5G wireless network. Now the remote control of household equipment. Compared with ordinary home, smart home not only provides comfortable, pleasant and high-grade family living space, but also realizes a more intelligent family security system. It also transforms the home environment from the passive static structure to a tool with dynamic wisdom, providing a full range of information interaction functions. Futher experts have commented “A smart home is not something you buy—it’s something you create.”Meaning the IoT life is under our hands we can create the desire place we want to stay and the life we want to live.

Second example are by implementing automatic monitoring to test the surface water quality. The surface water are constantly tested by the machine, once there is a change with the water quality the data will be sent to a computer and alert the management team, then the management team can know the condition of water and fix the problem immediately. This method can reduce water pollution and help to protect other environmental factors such as the amount of trees in the forest.

Third example are according to real-time acquisition of temperature and humidity signals, illumination, soil temperature, CO2 concentration and leaf surface temperature and other environmental parameters. IoT can allow the greenhouse to automatically open or close specific equipment to help the greenhouse to stay in the perfect condition. It can be processed at any time according to the needs of users, providing science for automatic monitoring of comprehensive ecological information of facility agriculture, automatic control of environment and intelligent management.
Basis. Temperature sensor and other signals are collected by module, and data are transmitted by wireless signal transceiver module to realize remote control of temperature and humidity in greenhouse.

How does internet of thing really impact on us?

Lets use some daily examples , lets say when you are on your way to work or drive kids to school your car already have the data from calendar and then choses the quickest way according to the current road condition, where the information are transferred from the nearest traffic station. Also if the traffic will be really heavy and you will be late for work or drive kids to school , the car might automatically sent a message to your boss or teacher saying you and your kids are late.Further what if your alarm clock wakes up you at 7 a.m. and then notifies your coffee maker to start brewing coffee for you? What if your office equipment knew when it was running low on supplies and automatically re-ordered more?  What if the wearable device you used in the workplace could tell you when and where you were most active and productive and shared that information with other devices that you used while working? What if your phone can tell you the best food place near you while your on lunch break or maybe even dinner place when you are at home?

So over all Internet of things can bring lots of benefits towards humans , but at the same time losing privacy and all the data can be easily be hacked. Whats your thoughts towards IoT ? Should we promote this industry even more and encourage people to use it ? If we do how can we fix all the concerns ? If not why so ?

    • Thanks for reading Elsie ! Its true that IOT can be a double edged sword , where it allows humans daily life to be more convenient which can help them manage task and time . On the other hand , it creates privacy issue , whether people can lose their personally detail like adress and phone number. So if companies want to fully implement IOT they should provide a safer experience for customer and ensure their personally detail are not leaked out.

    • I agree with you Pei , as IOT are already entering in our daily life , like googles home box which can be controlled even if you are not home. I am really looking towards future IOT and want to see how it can help us in many ways.

  1. Great post! IoT is very interesting, but I do think if consumers want to experience the full benefits and convenience of this technology, they are going to have to give up quite a bit of their privacy. So it’s really important for companies to manage their data responsibly.

    • Thank you for reading !! I totally agree with you that people now days are losing privacy through social media and IOT , so if companies really want everyone to start using IOT. They should prove laws to help and protect people, so this might be a negotiation between organisation and government.
